Slack Notifications

Set up Slack incoming webhooks to receive real-time ISMS notifications from Standardise.

Overview

The Slack integration sends real-time notifications to a Slack channel whenever key events occur in your ISMS. Notifications use Slack's Block Kit format with severity-based colours so your team can instantly triage incoming alerts.

Common events include risk creation, incident reporting, document approvals, audit completions, evidence uploads, and SoA changes. You choose exactly which events trigger a notification during setup.

Prerequisites

  • A Slack workspace where you have permission to add apps or incoming webhooks.
  • Owner or Admin role in Standardise (required to manage integrations).
  • An active subscription on any plan — Slack notifications are available on Starter and above.

Setup Steps

  1. In Slack, go to your workspace settings and navigate to Manage apps > Incoming Webhooks. Create a new webhook and select the channel where you want notifications delivered. Copy the webhook URL.
  2. In Standardise, navigate to Settings > Integrations and click Add Integration.
  3. Select Slack as the provider and paste the webhook URL into the configuration field.
  4. Choose which ISMS events should trigger notifications. You can subscribe to any combination of events such as risk.created, incident.created, document.approved, audit.completed, and more.
  5. Click Test Connection to send a sample message to your Slack channel. Verify it arrives, then save the integration.

Message Format & Severity Colours

Standardise uses Slack's Block Kit to render rich, structured messages. Each notification includes the event type, a summary of the change, a link back to the relevant item in Standardise, and a timestamp.

Messages are colour-coded by severity to help your team prioritise at a glance:

  • Red— Critical or high-severity events (e.g. critical incidents, overdue NDB notifications).
  • Orange— Medium-severity events (e.g. new risks, audit findings).
  • Green— Positive events (e.g. document approved, risk mitigated).
  • Blue— Informational events (e.g. evidence uploaded, SoA control updated).

Troubleshooting

  • Test message not arriving — Confirm the webhook URL is correct and the target channel still exists. Slack may deactivate webhooks if the channel is archived.
  • Notifications stopped unexpectedly — Check the integration status in Settings > Integrations. Slack may revoke webhooks if the associated app is uninstalled from the workspace.
  • Too many notifications — Edit the integration and refine your event subscriptions to only the events your team needs to act on.
